Nigerian Export Promotion Council has assured youths in Osun State of adequate support to enable them market locally-made ‘adire’ textile with the aid of technology.
This was disclosed by the NEPC Trade Promotion Advisor for Osogbo Export Assistance Office, Mr Benson Oseni, at a one-day workshop organised by the council in Osogbo.
Oseni, who urged youths in the state to channel their good knowledge of Information Communication Technology towards Nigeria’s non-oil exports penetration, said NEPC in the state had shifted “its focus on the promotion, development and value addition to ‘adire’ fabrics using digital technology platforms to showcase and reach wider market.”
In his remarks, Osun state Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Adebisi Obawale, called on all relevant stakeholders to assist Gboyega Oyetola-administration in promoting the ‘Adire Osun’ initiative.

According to him, the government has acquired 12 hectares of land to establish ‘adire’ market.
He then sought collaboration that would enable efficient marketing technique for the product.

He said, “We have acquired 12 hectares of land to establish our adire market. We are working tirelessly to that very soon we achieve that.

“We must collaborate and work to see how this marketing will have the best advantage for individual producers, for the government facilitating it and to the credit of Nigerian Export Promotion Council.”
